How We Can Help You: Our Process

Handyman Services (1 Day or Less)

You can book one of our operatives on a day-rate (or half-day) directly through our online scheduling system. For non-urgent tasks, you can take advantage of a discounted rate by purchasing the same service through our shop. In this case, our team will attend based on availability, typically within three weeks of booking.

Handyman Service

Small Projects (Typically 1–3 Weeks duration)

To get started, please book a "Site Visit - Small Project" through our scheduling system. During this visit, we’ll assess your requirements and provide a fixed-price quotation for the work. Please note, there is a £78 call-out charge for the visit, which will be credited back to you if you choose us to complete the project.

Availability: Our availability for small projects is typically within the next 3-4 weeks, as we can often schedule these around our larger projects.

Large Projects (Typically Over 3 Weeks duration)

For large projects, we usually require plans and, if applicable, structural calculations to provide a fixed-price quotation.

If you already have plans: Please book a "Site Visit - Large Project" through our scheduling system. We’ll review the plans during the visit and provide a fixed-price quotation.

Please note, there is a £156 call-out charge for the visit, which will be credited back to you if you choose us to complete the project.

Absolutely! Our Handyman Service allows you to book a building operative online for small tasks, such as repairs, furniture assembly, and general maintenance.

6. Are you insured?
Yes, SturdyBuild is fully insured to carry out all building and construction work. Additionally, we ensure that all subcontractors provide their own insurance and qualifications as required.

8. What is your process for starting a project?

  1. Initial Contact: Reach out to us to discuss your project.

  2. Site Visit: Book a site visit for a detailed assessment (call-out fee applies).

  3. Quotation: We provide a fixed-price quote based on your requirements.

  4. Agreement: Once the quote is approved, we schedule the project and begin work.

9. Can you handle plumbing and electrical work?
Yes, we can arrange plumbing and electrical work through our network of approved subcontractors. These professionals are fully qualified and insured to ensure the highest standards for your project.

10. What payment options do you accept?
We accept bank transfers, as well as credit or debit card payments with no surcharge. Payment schedules typically include:

  • A 5% deposit to secure your project.

  • Progress payments during the work, as agreed in advance.

  • A 5% retention payment, held until the project is completed to your satisfaction.

11. Do you use contracts for your work?
Yes, for all building work (apart from the Handyman Service), we use JCT Minor Works Contracts. These ensure clarity and fairness for both parties, covering the scope of work, timelines, and payment terms.

12. What if I need to make changes during the project?
We understand that plans can evolve. Any changes or additional work must be approved by the client through our Charge Order process. This ensures transparency and control, allowing you to review and agree to any modifications, including associated costs and timelines, before work proceeds.

13. Do you offer a guarantee for your work?
Yes, we stand by the quality of our work and offer guarantees on all our projects. Specific terms will be outlined in your contract.

14. How do I book a site visit?
You can easily book a site visit through our online scheduling system. Choose the appropriate service, and we’ll arrange a convenient time to meet.
